Now that it’s starting to Sunny up again, more and more people are calling us about the best ways to prepare their grounds for Turf installation. And like most things in life, the more prep work you do the less work you have to do later on. The more nutrients you put under the Turf the better long term effects it will have.

Friends of mine call it the Kids Effect. The more you put in now the nicer they will be later on. As in the more Organic Booster and water you can add to the soil and then install the turf, means the less work you have to do on the Grass when it is established.

But I’m not giving away all our installation secrets, you’ll have to give me a call to get those. Or even better, have us install Your Lawn for you.

And when I am asked about the best grass for People with Kids I always say a soft underfoot grass that it doesn’t matter when they fall on it, play football or cricket on it or like Cohan here eat it. And the best management of turf grasses is always Mow Mow Mow.

I’d like to introduce my daughter to you all. Hollie is 4 and is aiming to be the 3 generation of Turf Farmers in the family. Holl loves to drive the trucks with her Poppa, but her first love on the farm is driving the tractor.

So maybe dirt really does flow through our veins. But that’s what happen to us, Dad has taught us from day one about the love of farming, and we think this comes through in our work. Although I don’t work on the farm full time, I still really enjoy going down and working on the farm.Dad is the sort of teacher that doesn’t care if your a boy or a girl, he still expects the same from us. And we are passing that through to our kids, with the boys racing to catch up to Hollie.

My friends live in Cabarita Beach on the Tweed Coast and finally ripped out the concrete that was their back yard. But it left sandy messy soil. I’m sure lots us us know how hard it is to get sandy out of our house. So luckily she knew a turf farmer – that was me – and we installed Coastal Mix into her back yard last weekend and now our kids are playing happily on grass.

Now this is what a back yard should be like. Green and soft perfect for little ones to sit and romp on.

Well haven’t these beautiful warm days litered with wet misserable days a reminder that Spring is nearly here! And as well as baby animals being born in Spring, Plants do thier best growing in Spring.

So now is the time to prepare for this optimal growth season and either install your new lawn or condition your existing lawn. The Couches are still looking fantastic on the farm and the Buffalos are coming into thier own right. So our Turf Farm managers are fertilizing and preapring our paddocks for optimal Growth and cutting so your lawn will look great.

For those of you who allready have installed your lawn for 6 to 12 months now os the time to give your lawn a FEED or boost just before spring. Lawns need to be feed 2 to 3 times a year, and especially just before Spring. Fertilize your lawn with an Organic fertilizer such as Dnamic Lifter or Lawn booster by throwing the pellets out over your lawn just before rain.

For the more hungry Grasses or those on sandy soils now is a great time to Top dress your lawn. Now this doesn’t meean getting your best clothes out and walking over your lawn, but getting some organic boosted soil from your local nursery and spreading it evenly over your lawn. This is the best way to reboost your soils with the nutrients your grass will need for optimal graowth through out Spring.
