Coastal Turf is a family-owned and operated farm that has been serving the Tweed, Gold Coast, Northern Rivers, Byron Bay, Suffolk Park, Ewingsdale, and Bangalow regions for over 25 years.

We are located on the Tweed Coast in Northern NSW, with our property at 279 Round Mountain Road, Cabarita Beach, NSW—just 15 minutes south of the Gold Coast Airport and 30 minutes north of Byron Bay.

We have over 40 acres of turf under production. On our rural property, we have dedicated 5 acres for eco-conservation, featuring natural bushland to encourage native flora and fauna such as paperbark trees, eucalyptus trees, koalas, kookaburras, and echidnas.

Coastal Turf produces six different varieties of turf. We are an Australian-owned business and proud members of the national turf industry body, Turf Australia. We take pride in producing a high-quality product and investing in the future of the turf industry.

Coastal Turf encourages phone contact for customers who are unsure about which variety of turf is best for their new lawn. We invite you to visit our farm to touch and feel the grass in person. Sample pots of all six turf varieties are available for viewing at our office on-site. This way, we can help you choose the best grass for your location, yard size, and the amount of sunlight your area receives.

The Coastal Turf Crew consists of:

John Commens – the father and leader of the Coastal Turf crew. With over 60 years of expert farming knowledge, John manicures and perfects our paddocks to ensure you get a beautiful lawn. His skills have perfected the harvesting of every piece of turf to a premium quality, loved and recognized by landscapers and locals alike.

Sarah Mason – With over 20 years of experience in all things grass, and as a daughter, mother, wife, and turf farmer, Sarah uses her expert knowledge to provide the best advice on all things turf and grass-related. Her expertise in weeds, fungal infections, and lawn grubs allows her to recommend the best treatments for any type of grass. Sarah is our go-to person, whether she’s in the office, making deliveries, or driving tractors and loading turf into your truck or trailer.

Paul – Paul is our expert in the truck and skid steer loader, ensuring that turf is placed as close as possible during deliveries. With many years of experience on the team, Paul is dependable, precise, and dedicated to providing top-notch service. He’s highly skilled in operating machinery safely and efficiently, and his qualifications in First Aid and safety ensure a secure working environment. Paul’s strong problem-solving abilities, calm under pressure, and commitment to customer satisfaction make him a valuable asset to the team.

Sarah – Sarah is our office finance administrator, responsible for organizing office operations, invoicing, and all correspondence. She is highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Sarah can assist you with any turf-related questions, knowing each variety inside and out—roots and all. Her strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and dedication to providing excellent customer service make her a valuable asset to the team.

Luke – Luke is our delivery driver and farm hand, servicing all areas from Byron Bay to the top end of the Gold Coast. He is dependable, hardworking, and always goes the extra mile to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. With a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail, Luke ensures that every delivery is handled with care. His positive attitude, great problem-solving skills, and ability to adapt to any situation make him a key part of our team. Whether he’s on the road or helping out around the farm, Luke’s dedication to getting the job done right is invaluable.

Tony – also known as (Turfy) Tony the Turfman. With over 20 years of hands-on experience in the landscaping industry, Tony has built a reputation for his exceptional craftsmanship and in-depth knowledge of turf installation and garden design. His expertise in the unique soils and climate of the Northern Rivers and Tweed regions allows him to select the perfect turf and landscaping solutions for each project. Tony’s passion for creating beautiful outdoor spaces shines through in every job, ensuring that each client enjoys a lush, thriving lawn and a stunning landscape for years to come.

Hollie – or “Hol,” is a third-generation turf farmer who brings both passion and experience to every aspect of Coastal Turf. Whether she’s in the office, laying turf, or operating machinery, Hollie is always ready to roll up her sleeves and get her hands dirty. With her extensive knowledge, gained from a young age, she’s our go-to person for anything turf-related. Her dedication and experience make her an invaluable member of the team, always ready to lend a hand and ensure smooth operations on every project.

Meet Our Working Farm Furry Friends – Jessie, Duncan, Millie, Dotty, Marley, and JoJo! These loyal pups are always on the go, helping out around the farm with their boundless energy and love for the great outdoors. Whether they’re rounding up the team or simply enjoying the sunshine, they’re an essential part of the Coastal Turf family. Their playful spirit and unwavering dedication make them the true heart of our farm! A Couple have retired and spend their days enjoying the office scenery.
