Creating Happy Healthy Family Homes

There has been a lot of talk lately about creating a better breathable world for us all to live in. We all want to make sure that the air we breath is fresh, clean and healthy. We are now all so much more aware of the harms that plastic can do not only to our environment but our personal bodies as well. And what is the most basic of things we could all do to ensure the quality of our breathable air is of high standards?

Have a lawn!

Happy Healthy family lawns

According to a recent study performed in the US by TPI, an area as small as 48 square meters of green lawn can provide a family of four with enough clean breathable oxygen for a year! And at the same time this 48sqm of Lawn can also provide the piece of mind and happiness of having a green area for your family to look at and play on. TPI has also researched that seeing healthy green colours mentally makes us all feel happier. And I know that hearing my kids laughing and playing on the lawn always makes me happy.

Air Quality!

My friend has one of those cone shaped air purifiers in her home. It puts a “Forest Friends” smell into the air. I guess it kinda smells like pine. I was thankful that it didn’t smell too much like the Forest Friends as I had thoughts of woodland animals and their musky smell.  But all the Air Purifier really does is put more smells into the air. Where as your lawn will actually absorb all the air around it, absorb all the pollutants and then release beautiful clean fresh air for you and your family to breathe.

So really your lawn is the best air purifier you could ever own. Its easier to use, cheaper to look after and you never have to clean the filters. And it is much more aesthetically pleasing to look at than a cone in your lounge room. Maybe we need to start having a little patch of green lawn in our lounge rooms? Having a real  air purifier in our house rather than a plastic pretend one. Aren’t we all trying to get rid of the plastic?

Instead of importing plastic into our home, lets just use our lawns to make us healthier and happier. Save ourselves money, and save the planet at the same time.  Get a Coastal Turf lawn to create a happy healthy family home. Contact us now!

Winter Lawn installation.

Is it better to install your lawn in Summer or Winter?

Well, personally myself, I prefer to install our lawns in Winter.

I love the hot. Its great to be warm. But I really really hate sweating so much that my clothes feel like they have just come out of a washing machine, but really do not smell as nice. So Summer installations are not my favourite thing to do. But in Winter, even on a really hard working day, my clothes do not become ringing wet, or smell like my teenagers shoes.

The turf itself in Winter does slow down its leaf growth rate, but not its root growth. So in Summer, 3 days after you install your lawn, it is almost screaming out for a haircut. But you can’t run your mower across the top because it will destroy all the little tiny baby roots that are just trying hard to establish. Yet in Winter, the leaf grow is slower, and calmer. And the plant has the reserves to concentrate on root establishment. Your lawn will be well into its life cycle with the roots securely  holding onto your soil, before it will mention calmly that it may require a little trim to stay looking perfect.

In Winter I think you need a reason to get out of your home. A reason to get outside and breath in the fresh air. And Winter can also make you feel a little sad. But nothing makes you feel happier and healthier than being outside on your own lawn. You can walk across your lawn in the middle of the day, bare feet, coffee in hand (or a better beverage if you like) and feel the warmth and happiness fill you mind and body.

Winter is also a great time to see the minimum hours of sunlight your lawn will receive. In Summer your lawn will appear to have all day long sun light. In Winter as the sun is lower in the sky, and your lawn will tell a different story. You will see more shade. This puts you in the best position to know truely the best variety that will thrive in your lawn. We had a customer today who bought beautiful blue couch lawn,  which requires 6 hours of direct sunlight er day, in January. It thrived and looked stunning ; up until winter. The little yard now only reviews 2-3 hours of direct sunlight. And the blue is suffering. Being a new build the customers did not know how many hours the courtyard would receive in winter. So winter is defiantly the best time to know the mimimim amount of direct sunlight per day hours. And get the best fit lawn for your area. These customers now have a pretty Buffalo Lawn in their courtyard.

So best for choice, best for mowing, and best for you. Winter lawns great to install. And by Spring and Summer, you will have a perfect Coastal Turf Lawn to use every single day.

Where can you see the different types of turf?

I love Wednesdays. Wednesdays are donut days at the farm. Now you may be thinking that Donut Day is about something really technical, and maybe a trade secret. Well no. Its just delicious circle shaped pastry for morning tea day.

And I love it. I think that Donuts are a crowd favourite. They come in all shapes, sizes, flavours and wheat and noon wheat varieties. A Beautiful round delight for every taste. Like the different varieties of turf that we supply. Different tastes require different types of turf. But please do not eat your turf. It is not as tasty as a donut.

This Wednesday I headed over to Chinderah to purchase some donuts on the way back from visiting a lovely lady. The area I usually park was all taken, so I pulled up in front of JH Williams to leave the car quickly while I ran into to purchase my donuts. Well, donuts for all the crew. Being the polite young lady that I am, and also that I knew they would share, I bought an extra box of donuts for the Boys at JH Williams as a bit of a thank you for looking after our display plots at Chinderah.

As I took a stroll The yard looks amazing, not even the cold winter days have knocked around the display plots. The grass areas really shows you what your lawn can look ,like at your place. Much more I think than if you looked at the grass on the farm. On the farm its just a long paddock, and hard to visualise as a smaller patch at home. But as a smaller plot with pavers and bricks around it, looks more homely. And its near donuts!

So pull in to the JH Williams at (Click the link for directions)  24 Ozone St, Chinderah

And go see the beautiful little lawn plots and that could be your lawn. Order straight away with the boys there, or give me a call and we can arrange pick up or delivery.
