Turf Driveways – Green up your hardscape

It’s been a week of amazing new turf driveways being installed. We have been lucky enough to work with a Landscaper as well as a Do It Yourself Amazing Man to create two very different turf driveway grassed areas.

There are several different products on the market for installing under Turf to create Lawn Driveways. The idea of these cells is that instead of concreting the area that will incur heavy traffic, you grass the area. Turf, lawn, grass they all create cooler healthier softer environments around your home. Rather than the hot, harsh, attracts mould and slime, concrete.

One of the main reasons that turf grasses die when they are driven over a lot is because of compaction. The cells, like GEOHEX or Grass Rings provide a protective area for the roots and soil from Compaction. Allowing the roots to breathe and travel through heathy soft soil. Although the leaf is flattened by traffic, the roots stay super healthy. Super healthy roots travelling through airy healthy soil means the plant can grow, recover and ensure the leaf stands up quickly. In our experince, and that of our clients, it is usually a lot cheaper than concreting the area as well.

One of the landscapers we work very closely with is Tony the Turfman. His projects usually include a beautiful lawn. So we very, very excited to be able to work with him on a 500sqm Wintergreen couch driveway for a customer. After chatting about the best cost effective, as well as best suited turf for the area, Turfman installed the Wintergreen couch across GEOHEX paving to create a beautiful driveway.

Turfman sent us this video about the process. It doesn’t show all the hard work the Turfman Team put in. They don’t like being in videos. Just the beautiful results.

Sarah in the office had the pleasure of working with a DIYAM ( DO It Yourself Amazing Man). His front area of his home was smaller, and he wanted to install a grassed area, rather than concrete. A lawn area is so much nicer and has so many more different uses than a hard concrete area. Being on the coast, cooling capacity to his home will be a game changer in Summer.

This DIYAM used Grass Rings to secure the ground and make it ready for his lawn driveway. here is his video.

DIYAM created a flat area where he wanted his driveway to be. Then he place the hard cells onto of the area, filled with soil, then laid Sir Walter Buffalo turf across the top. We decided on Sir Walter Buffalo for his area for a couple of reason. The Sir Walter is fast repairing, so the leaf will be perfect for a driveway. The area was a little shaded, so we need a thicker leafed grass like the Sir Walter. We wanted to match the new driveway with some existing buffalo turf DIYAM had already. It just looks amazing. And feels even better.

As all our blocks get smaller, and there is less and less area for your kids to run around on, why not consider a Grass Driveway? The grass around your home will keep it cooler in summer, warmer in winter. And provide you with clean fresh air all year round. And give you a great place for you to walk bare footed in summer across your cool driveway. Not to mention that it will also save you money!

Whether you decide to have a landscaper install for you or DIY, Coastal Turf can help you match the correct turf grass to your beautiful new Driveway and play area. We need more DIYAM and DIYAW (thats a Do It Yourself Amazing Women) in the world!

New Years Grass and Lawns

Happy New Year!

I know, I Know. I am a couple of days late, but new years eve always takes it out of you doesn’t it? The late night is enough to drain you for a day after, let alone if you have consumed a little too much liquid as well….Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! That is the golden rule, after New Years Eve parties, as well as after your lawn has been sitting in the hot sun all day. Getting tht wonderful water into your systems will mean healthier happier you and your lawn.

As I watched the sun rise over the farm this morning, while we were irrigating our paddocks (watering in the morning means that your lawn and our paddocks get a freshening cool down before the heat sets in for the day. And a lovely drink), I snapped this picture to remind myself of the Amazing new year ahead of us. The wonderful times are are set to come.

Sunrise at Coastal TurfA New Year, A New Stronger healthier paddock, A New stronger healthier happier GREENER lawn for you. And as research in Qld shows, the more green grassed areas around your home, the cooler the inside. And at the moment I think we would all enjoy a little cooler around us.

Give the Gift of Green

This Christmas there has been a lot of chatter about buying local to save our Carbon foot print. And what better way to store and save Carbon foot printing than investing in a lawn. Imagine the glow of your loved ones face with excitement and joy when they open their gift of a new LAWN!

When you look at a house the first thing you see is either the lack of or the Gorgeous Green Lawn. It is this green scape that defines if the house it ready and livable, and a happy home or if it is a work in progress. Now I am not saying that Coastal Turf can gift a happy home, but we can definitely supply the means to an end.

Imagine – Christmas on the green soft fluffy grass. New years with everyone complimenting you on your new fresh lawn. The kids rolling about playing on the lawn. The water fight in the heat on the day with Dad falling over w=and everyone else stacking on top. And then the quiet slow down of resting peacefully on the lawn after a long day.

What other gift can do so much!

Give your loved one a Coastal Turf Gift Voucher for as little or as much as you want (either in square meters or in price) and give the gift of soooo much, that continues throughout the year!
